30 Minute Virtual Visit

Home Visits -

Standard Consultations and Feeding Multiples Consultations are conducted in the familiar comfort of your own home. Home visits allow us to work on feeding issues in the actual setting where you’re having them with the actual resources you have available to you. It doesn’t matter if you can figure out how to position your baby for comfortable feeding on MY couch, you need to be able to do this on YOUR couch! I bring everything with me, you don’t have to do anything special. Please don’t clean your house for me, and I promise, I don’t care if you’re in your pajamas! If you would feel more comfortable with an office visit, we can do that instead, just let me know.

Home Visit Travel Radius: My home visit travel radius includes locations within roughly 45 minutes of Mount Vernon. This includes most of Skagit County, southern Whatcom County, northern Snohomish County, and northern Whidbey Island. If you’re not sure if you’re too far away, just ask.

Virtual Visits -

Consultations that don’t involve assessing feeding problems or providing hands-on feeding help are offered virtually. We will meet through a confidential telehealth platform where can still see each other face-to-face for conversation and thoroughly address all your concerns.

Your consultations with Tulip City may be fully covered at no cost to you! Pre-approval is required to make sure your plan qualifies. Tulip City partners with Lactation Network for insurance billing and they will handle the pre-approval process for you in minutes. Please visit Lactation Network to complete a pre-approval request form and have your benefits checked before scheduling.

All Other Insurance Companies

Tulip City is out-of-network with all other insurance companies and does not bill directly for the cost of your care. Payment is due at the time of service according to the fee schedule below. I will provide you with a superbill to submit to your insurance company so that you may request reimbursement for the out-of-pocket cost of your care.

How does insurance reimbursement work?

The Affordable Care Act requires most insurance companies to cover “breastfeeding support, supplies, and counseling” at no cost to patients, which includes lactation consulting. If you pay out-of-pocket for these services, most insurance companies are required to reimburse you. To find out the reimbursement policies that apply to your plan, call the member services number on the back of your insurance card and ask them about reimbursement for “breastfeeding support and counseling with an out-of-network provider”. To learn more about your coverage rights under the Affordable Care Act, how to navigate the reimbursement process, and how to appeal a denied claim, please reference this toolkit by the National Women’s Law Center.
